Eric Diaz (vCard)

Eric Diaz is a member of Jacoby Donner, P.C.  For over a decade Mr. Diaz has been structuring, negotiating and closing sophisticated real estate and finance transactions for a broad spectrum of clients who seek his counsel and assistance on matters related to debt and equity finance, acquisition, disposition and leasing.

Driven by market conditions and the needs of his clients, Mr. Diaz has developed a niche practice in the area of distressed real estate and defaulted mortgage loan workouts.  He has facilitated the acquisition and disposition of distressed assets including REO and discounted loan sales, as well as loan modifications and discounted payoffs.

Considered an authority across the broad spectrum of real estate financing, Mr. Diaz developed a specialty in securitized loans while in-house counsel for GMAC Commercial Mortgage Corporation (now Berkadia Commercial Mortgage).  Mr. Diaz advises clients on every facet of commercial mortgage loan servicing and related real estate capital market transactions and has co-authored articles on pre-negotiation agreements and recent changes in IRS rules related to commercial mortgage loan modifications.

Mr. Diaz understands the client's perspective from the client's perspective and knows that outside counsel must respond to clients' real needs in real time.  Through 24/7 availability, responsiveness and communication, he synchronizes his efforts with his clients' business goals to execute a common plan creatively, efficiently and decisively.

Mr. Diaz works closely with the Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and the Hispanic Bar Association of Philadelphia to support the needs of the Philadelphia area's growing Hispanic business community.  In 2007, Mr. Diaz was designated as one of thirteen Pennsylvania minority attorneys "on the verge" by The Legal Intelligencer and Pennsylvania Law Weekly.  He is also the Chief Operations Officer of the Global Indian Chamber of Commerce, a 20,000 member non-profit organization dedicated to promoting trade relationships between India and the West.

Mr. Diaz is admitted to practice law in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.  He holds an L.L.M. in Taxation from New York University School of Law, a J.D. (cum laude) from The University at Buffalo School of Law, where he served as Editor-in-Chief of the Buffalo Environmental Law Journal, and is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross.
